Running My Own Race
The first time I realized I was on a different path, it didn’t feel bold. It felt uncertain.
As the first in my family to pursue a career and entrepreneurial path like this, there was no blueprint to follow. No clear route to the destination. Just a belief that I needed to keep going and figure it out along the way.
From early on, I learned that life is a marathon, not a sprint. That perspective has stayed with me through uncertainty and change, grounding me in moments when the path ahead wasn’t clear. I often remind myself: there is a reason for this season.
That belief has carried me through both setbacks and progress. It has allowed me to keep learning, to stretch my thinking, and to set bigger goals, even when I couldn’t yet see how I would reach them.
Standing on the Shoulders of Legends
When I think about the legends in my life, I don’t think of titles or recognition. I think of people. Parents. Family. Friends. Mentors. Individuals who took the time to listen, to share their experiences, and to offer what they could, often in ways that felt small at the time, but shaped me in lasting ways.
They taught me to run my own race. To lead with integrity, humility, and empathy. To remain resilient, even in moments of adversity.
Because of them, I learned that being a legend isn’t about recognition. It’s about the impact you have on others and the way that impact continues, often quietly, beyond you.
Building Through Experience
At the start of my career, I remember the pride I felt reaching that first milestone. After years of learning and working toward something that, at one point, felt far away. That moment mattered, but it wasn’t the destination. It was the beginning.
From there, I continued to build on that foundation, taking on new challenges and stepping into different areas of work that pushed me to grow. Each experience stretched my thinking, expanded my perspective, and required me to learn in new ways.
But what mattered most wasn’t the progress itself. It was what those experiences asked of me.
To step into unfamiliar spaces.
To adapt.
To keep going, even when I didn’t have all the answers.
Over time, I realized that growth doesn’t come from following a clear path. It comes from being willing to move forward without one.
Resilience and Recharging
Resilience, for me, has never been just about pushing through. It’s also about knowing when to pause.
There are moments when the most important thing I can do is step away, to refill my cup so I can continue with clarity and intention. I’ve found that in simple ways, like hiking or walking in nature. Being in those spaces allows me to reset, reflect, and return with renewed energy and determination.
Those moments remind me that resilience isn’t constant motion. It’s the ability to sustain the journey.
Paying It Forward
I am where I am today because others took the time to support me. They shared their knowledge. They offered guidance. They helped me navigate challenges I didn’t yet know how to solve.
And I’ve come to understand the importance of continuing that cycle.
Mentoring, coaching, and advising others isn’t separate from the work. It’s part of the impact. It’s about helping others chart their own paths, in their own way, just as I was supported in mine.
Because sometimes the greatest difference we make isn’t in what we achieve ourselves, but in what we help others move through.
Continuing the Journey
I am still on the marathon of my life’s journey. I am still learning. Still growing. Still setting new goals, even when the path forward isn’t fully clear. But I’ve learned to trust that.
To run my own race.
To take time to recharge.
To embrace my unique path, even when it looks different from those around me.
Because in doing so, I’ve found that making a difference isn’t one defining moment. It’s something built over time, through experience, through resilience, and through the people we choose to lift along the way.
