An Indigenous Labradorian, Dr. Chubbs has devoted her life to
helping others. From her early career beginnings as an RN to
her incremental leadership climb to being President and CEO,
she has committed her work life to advancing health care. Dr.
Katherine Chubbs is the President and Chief Executive Officer
of The Good Samaritan Society. She has worked in a wide
variety of clinical settings as a frontline nurse, manager, and
executive leader. Prior to her current role, she has held roles
such as Chief Zone Officer for Alberta Health Services, Vice
President and Chief Nursing Officer for Eastern Health, and
Adjunct Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland
and the University of Lethbridge. She is also the owner of her
own business, Northern Lights Leadership and Design. Dr.
Chubbs has completed a diploma and Bachelor of Nursing
degree, a certificate program in Northern Nursing, a Master’s
degree in Health Studies-Leadership and is a Certified Health
Executive. She holds an executive Doctoral degree in Business
Administration with a specialization in Healthcare
Management. Dr. Chubbs currently sits on the boards of the
Canadian College of Health Leaders, the Canadian Health
Leadership Network, the Christian Health Association of
Alberta, the Denominational Health Association of British
Columbia, BC Care Providers Association, and the Edmonton
Airports Authority Board. Dr. Chubbs spends her spare time
serving as a worship leader and with her loving and supportive
family. She dedicated her WXN award to her late mother,
Verna, the most powerful woman she ever knew.
